Our Team
Phil Siganto
General/Risk Insurance Adviser
Phil Siganto is a man of few words. Perhaps that’s why his colleagues say “when Phil talks, everyone listens”. His careful, considered approach is coupled with a sense of compassion that makes him a formidable force when his clients face personal or business battles. When life packs a punch, Phil takes their corner. After all, he’s accustomed to doing the heavy lifting. He began his working life driving forklifts and heavy machinery. He didn’t last long behind the wheel, driven instead by an ambition to help protect the businesses that make up the backbone of Queensland’s transport; construction and mining industries. He trained with a risk insurance company in his hometown of Mackay. Then, throughout the nineties, he built a strong reputation as an insurance adviser, specialising in life and income protection.
Today, he is primarily engaged by multi-million dollar Queensland-based businesses in the transport, civil engineering and mining industries. These are big hitters and Phil has the mettle to return serve. Thanks to enduring relationships, some a decade long, Phil considers it his privilege to watch his clients grow their businesses. From facilitating Risk Managers and legal experts to help with expansions; to coordinating full audits in line with changing regulations, Phil makes it his business to help expose business risk. When the new millennium ushered in a significant shake-up within the insurance industry, Phil embraced the multi-agency platform and the freedom to cast his net wider when researching suitable, cost-effective insurance policies on behalf of his clients. He brought this renewed rigour to Insurance Advisernet Townsville, an authorised representative of Insurance Advisernet Australia, an office he established in 2009 to specialise in both general business insurance.
Phil’s client-first approach has seen him come full circle. Just as he did at the start of his career, he relishes working with individuals and business owners to design insurance strategies to help protect their corporate and personal assets. He admits some individuals initially see insurance as a “grudge purchase”. However, to help humanise the process, Phil takes the time to explain the types of claims he’s facilitated throughout his long career. These enlightening discussions are designed to help empower clients with the kind of information that illustrates policy in action. His easy, approachable manner makes this a comfortable process. Phil admits that when he coordinates insurances, he hopes businesses never face the kind of adversities that lead to claims. However he knows, first-hand, how fickle fate can be. On those occasions, and in the days in between, Phil makes it his professional priority to smooth the journey.
Personally
In the office and at home, Phil is patient and meticulous. He is a weekend fisherman and (by his own admission) a very, very average golfer and lawn bowler. When the tides are right and a hefty catch is in, Phil likes nothing more than sharing a meal of muddies with family and friends. It’s no stretch to say that a weekend win is celebrated much like a professional win – where Phil’s efforts are used to benefit others. Phil Siganto is an Authorised Representative of Insurance Advisernet Australia Pty Ltd, AFSL 240549. Authorised Representative No 267586.
